Our Values

At Gifted Women, how we do things matters just as much as what we do. These values shape every part of our work – from how we run sessions to how we talk, listen, and make decisions. They’re not just ideas. They’re how we hold ourselves accountable – to the women we support and to each other.

We’ve built our values from trauma-informed principles, and added one more of our own: joy.

Safety

We do everything we can to create spaces where women feel safe — physically, emotionally, and mentally. That means being consistent, respectful, and clear. Every woman’s version of safety is different, and we take the time to understand that.

It also means being actively anti-oppressive. We do not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia, or any other form of discrimination. We challenge stigma and prejudice wherever we see it, and we’re always working to make our space more inclusive, safer, and fairer for everyone.

Trust

Trust is built, not expected. We earn it by being reliable, honest, and respectful. We don’t promise what we can’t deliver. We listen without judgment, and let women set the pace. We know that trust is a two way street and we trust women as the experts in their own lives.

Choice

Nothing is forced. Women working with us know what’s right for them. Our role is to give options, support their decisions, and never push or pressure anyone into something that doesn’t feel right.

Collaboration

We work with women. Whether we’re planning a session or figuring out the next step, we do it together – because women know what they need and when. We recognise that Gifted Women might be one piece of the puzzle in a woman’s life, and we value the contribution of other organisations and services and will work together as guided by her.

Empowerment

We don’t give women power – we recognise it’s already there. Our job is to help remove barriers, support their choices, and encourage them to take the lead in their own life. We don’t do things for women. Women do things for themselves with the support that they feel they need.

Joy

We make space for lightness, laughter, and fun – because joy matters. Even when life is hard, there should still be room for connection and moments that lift us.

These values aren’t something we say and forget. They’re how we try to show up every day – with respect, honesty, and a belief that amazing things are possible.
